• Batterers' Intervention Program

- to assist the perpetrator in understanding and acknowledging that acts of violence, abuse and misuse of power and privilege are a means of controlling the victim’s actions, thoughts and feelings

· to reinforce the reality that the aggressor alone is both responsible and accountable for his behavior

· to teach the perpetrator practical skills for relating to one's partner in non-controlling and non-violent ways

• guidelines

The 52-week program is held in weekly two-hour facilitated group sessions. Each class is comprised of no more than 10 participants. Victims will be notified of the perpetrators’ admission to the program and any changes in their status, including completion of the program. If the perpetrator is court referred, he will be referred back to the courts for non-compliance with program guidelines.
